Many of us who are natural caretakers lead lives out of balance. I’m a perfect example of that. I was brought up to give back. My parents, newlyweds who narrowly escaped the Nazis and saw 29 family members killed in the camps, fled through the Underground only because strangers risked their lives to help them.
As a result, they always opened their hearts, their kitchen and their wallet to those in need. They knew that if they responded with compassion and ministered to others, it just might be at the very moment that saved that person’s life.
Naturally I grew up dedicated to making the world a better place and to helping others. The problem was, just like my parents, I forgot to take care of myself in the process. I learned my lesson the hard way. Choosing to do nonprofit work in a distressed inner city Philadelphia neighborhood dubbed “The Badlands” by the national media, I often devoted up to 60-80 hours a week to my work, forgoing rest or a social life. For 17 years, I neglected my own needs, and eventually I got very sick. This was beyond burnout; this was life threatening. There was no choice but to leave the job which had become a mission.
As I recovered, I prayed for the right career solution; one that would allow me to be independent and yet still help others; one that would allow me to balance my life with enough time to heal and enjoy the ride. I said affirmations about finding a great new opportunity working with loving caring people. Surfing the net, I came upon The Freedom Plan.
I’m so grateful I found this unique home based business opportunity. There is nothing like it in the world. I may have lost almost all my family, but now I’m part of a community of colleagues who are helping me work toward my financial, personal and spiritual goals. Finally, this very real home based business opportunity allows me to coach others to realize their dreams, granting me the possibility of maintaining a mission driven life, an opportunity I cherish.
